Askham Hall Wedding

Wow – it’s two and a half years since I photographed Melanie + Hridesh’s wedding at Askham Hall in Cumbria. I always love a Lake District wedding – it’s a wonderful part of the country and I’ve missed not being there for any wedding photography this year…

I have been able to look back on some of my favourite days and revisit couple’s wedding days through the photos I’ve taken. I’m surprised at the little details I remember for the day. Quite often it’s not what I’ve photographed but what’s been said and the small things people share – listening to people talk to each other on the wedding day really gives you an insight into what’s important to them and it means I can reflect that in the photos I take on the day.

Here’s another look at Hridesh and Melanie’s Askham Hall wedding. The original blog post is below…

It was a quick trip up to The Lakes this weekend to join Melanie and Hridesh to take their Askham Hall wedding photography.

My First Askham Hall Wedding

It was the first time I’d been to an Askham Hall wedding and what a fantastic venue it is. The Hall itself is beautiful and it describes itself as a restaurant with rooms, offering fine dining and some beautiful character filled rooms. There are also Gardens and a Cafe open to the public.

Hridesh and Melanie had taken over the whole place for their weekend wedding and were able to have their guests stay over and extend the wedding from the previous evening into the morning after – which is always a lovely thing to do.

Staying for the Ceilidh & Fun

I joined everyone at lunchtime to photograph some of the preparations before the ceremony and said late into the evening to enjoy the ceilidh dancing and party fun. The ceremony itself took place in the Grade 2 listed Bank Barn which looks just perfect for a Cumbrian rural wedding.

Here’s a little preview of Melanie and Hridesh’s Askham Hall wedding photography – I’m looking forward to editing the rest of the day very soon….
