Cripps Barn Winter Wedding – Lizzy+Adam

My last wedding before Christmas last year was the lovely Cripps Barn winter wedding of Lizzy & Adam.

I’ve photographed weddings at Cripps Barn before but, as with any venue, the time of year, different light and the varied collection of disparate people make each day interesting and unique to photograph.

Cripps Barn – Cotswold Wedding Venue

I started the day off with Lizzy and her Bridesmaids getting ready (it’s always a nice way to start the day – a chance to get my eye in as well as drink cups of tea) and then moved ahead of the bridal party to join Adam at Cripps Barn.

I love a wedding venue like Cripps Barn. It’s a beautiful 18th century Cotswold stone barn in acres of countryside, miles from anywhere so that the party can go on undisturbed late into the night. You can have the ceremony and be married within the stone walls and there is also great outside space to accommodate lots of guests.

I love a Winter Wedding

I’ve shot quite a few winter weddings this year and encountered all the weather that a wedding in the UK can throw at me. Have a peek at these too:

Winter weddings can be seen as being a challenging time to try to photograph a wedding. The weather is unpredictable, guests might be stuck indoors hiding away from the cold, the light is low and fleeting – but for me they have an atmosphere you don’t get at any other time of year. It might be a uniquely British thing (I stand to be corrected) but it’s almost as if everyone comes together and says ‘Right. We’ve turned out on a day like this so we are damn well going to enjoy ourselves!’. At least that’s what I’ve found. It certainly was the case for Lizzy and Adam.
