Tanner & Co Wedding Photography – Lindsey & Matt
Share this
A few weeks ago I photographed the wedding of Matthew and Lindsey at the Asylum Chapel in Peckham and Tanner & Co. in Bermondsey in the heart of London. Typical of the couples I work with they were not hugely fond of being photographed and wanted someone who could make a creative record of the day without them having to spend the day posing. It’s what I do so I’m pleased they found me.
” Thank you again for capturing our day in exquisite detail and in exactly the sort of playful mood we wanted. “
The day started, as most days do, with a little bit of getting ready – Lindsey was at her brother’s and calmly having hair and makeup applied while chatting. Everyone else was organising and getting ready to travel to the ceremony.
Asylum Chapel Wedding Photography
I’ve photographed a few wedding ceremonies at Asylum Chapel recently (see more Asylum Chapel weddings here) and it a fabulous and unique venue.
” The chapel is a Grade II listed building, built in 1826 by the Licensed Victualers Benevolent Institution for use by the residents of Caroline Gardens. These residents were made up of retired workers of the alcohol trade. Bombed in WWII, the present use of the chapel is as a flexible space which can be hired for photographic and film shoots, exhibitions, theatre, weddings and funerals. “
Left to crumble it looks amazing and guests are aways taken aback when they walk inside – having worked there in the Winter I know to wrap up warm because no heating means that I’ll be photographing everyone’s breath when they breathe out….
It was then drinkies and hugs and jumping on a London Bus to Bermondsey and Tanner & Co. – one of the darkest and strangely lit venues I’ve ever photographed in. But I like a challenge and it gives a really unique and interesting look to Matthew & Lindsey’s wedding photos.
The Tanner & Co. Wedding Photography Challenge
I could have overwhelmed the place with flash and set up lights etc. but that’s not how their day looked and I wouldn’t want to create photographs that don’t look like the place they hold in their memories. Anyway I’ve photographed in all situations across 10 years of weddings and I’m used to photographing in all lighting conditions – representing the day as it was not as I’d like it to be. We can all take great photos in perfect conditions!
” The pictures are really brilliant and will be a constant reminder of an awesome day we all had! “
